Society of WineMakers
The WineMakers Society is a group to encourage wine making skills through education and instruction; recipe exchange; cooperative wine making; wine tastings and competitions.
Claude Dixon, proprietor of WineMakers Guild, is organizing the group.
"I was active in the Hudson Valley HomeBrewers for more than 10 years," said Dixon, proprietor of WineMakers Guild. "I learned quite a bit about wine making from the sharing of collective knowledge and experience of the other club members, even though it was a beer making group. That group produced a team of National Beer Judges, a couple of National Cider Champions, and about six professional brewers.
"Besides the educational part of the group, there was a fun social aspect," said Dixon. "We had several members who didn’t make wine or homebrew, who joined because of the good fellowship. The club organized family picnics, trips to beer crawls, brewery trips and beer runs to Pennsylvania and Canada."
"And I wanted to organize a club like the HomeBrewers in Dublin – except focusing on wine," he added.
The group will meet once a month, and the founding members will decide the meeting date.
Those interested in joining can sign up at the shop, by calling (614) 791-9583 or emailing Claude@WineMakersGuild.net.
